Rules for Craftsmanship

Rules for Craftsmanship

There are two main points related to the creation of any item: intended craftsmanship and available components. To build something of good or best craftsmanship requires better components than common or poor craftsmanship. Components must be acquired before creation of the item can be attempted. For example, to construct a best-craftsmanship suit of armor requires high quality materials. Writing a best-craftsmanship contract requires quality information. Etcetera.

Once the required components have been acquired the stated level of craftsmanship must be stated prior to any rolls. So, you must state that that you are crafting a good-craftsmanship item and roll with the appropriate modifiers. You cannot roll for a common-craftsmanship item, roll well, and expect a good or best-craftsmanship result.
